I recently found out my blood type, AB negative, the rarest in the world with less than 1% of the population sharing this type with me. However, I did not find out my blood type so that I could donate blood, partly because I do not meet the weight requirements to be eligible to give blood. The reason I went to the trouble of taking an at home blood test, was to learn the best diet and exercise regiment for my blood type. Studies have shown that different blood types require different nourishment and stimulation for best results and health.
Here are some basics for each blood type:

Type 0 :
Diet Needs; High Protein- Meat, Fish, Fruit, Vegetables, Limited Grains, Beans, & Legumes
To Lose Weight; Avoid-Wheat, Corn, Lentils, Kidney Beans, Dairy
Beneficial- Kelp, Seafood, Red Meat, Kale, Spinach, Broccoli, Olive Oil
Best Exercise; Intense physical exercise such as aerobics, running and martial arts

Type A :
Diet Needs; Largely Vegetarian- Vegetables, Tofu, Seafood, Grains, Legumes, Fruit, Turkey
To Lose Weight; Avoid- Meat, Dairy, Kidney Beans, Lima Beans, Wheat, Corn
Beneficial- Olive Oil, Soy, Seafood, Vegetables, Pineapple
Best Exercise; Calming, centering exercises such as yoga and Tai Chi

Type B :
Diet Needs; Balanced Omnivore- Meat, Dairy, Grains, Fruit, Vegetables, Fish, Seafood, Select beans, Legumes
To Lose Weight; Avoid- Chicken, Corn, Lentils, Peanuts, Wheat
Beneficial- Greens, Eggs, Venison, Liver, Licorice Tea
Best Exercise; Moderate physical exercise with a mental component, such as hiking, cycling, tennis, and swimming

Type AB :
Diet Needs; Mixed Diet- Lamb, Fish, Dairy, Tofu, Beans, Legumes, Grains, Vegetables, Fruit
To Lose Weight; Avoid- Chicken, Corn, Kidney Beans, Buckwheat
Beneficial- Tofu, Seafood, Greens, Kelp
Best Exercise; Calming, centering exercises such as yoga combined with moderate exercise like cycling and tennis

Of course knowing your type is great for donating blood, or if you are ever in need of a transfusion, but now this information can be used in our daily lives, to better care for ourselves with the best diet and exercise for us as an individual.
