I have decided to write about this topic because for the past month I have enrolled in a kickboxing class. I have seen encouraging results that has convinced me that this type of exercise is great. I have begun to lose inches and I have lost 5lbs so far, but besides the weight loss, I am also learning self-defense.
Benefits of Kickboxing:
1. Melt fat, fast
Combining martial arts techniques and heart-pumping cardio, kickboxing is a high-energy workout that is guaranteed to burn about 750 calories an hour. Adding a few more exercises like jump rope and core strengthening exercises, you can burn up to 900 calories a class.
The cardio element of kickboxing class is another effective way to burn fat, especially belly fat that’s associated with diabetes or heightened risk of heart disease.
2. Tone your entire body
Kickboxing forces a person to engage all the muscle groups in your body. Using the boxing gloves, as opposed to air boxing helps burn more calories because you are working out your back and waist with each move which requires a lot of core power moves. Engaging your core will also improve coordination, flexibility and reflexes.
3. Learn valuable self-defense moves
Although kickboxing is considered a physical workout, the self-defense aspect is a perk for many people. Having the ability to protect yourself is great. It is also empowering to know that if you are in a dangerous situation, you have the knowledge to get yourself out of it safely.
4. Release stress and aggression
After a hard day at work a cold beer is not the same as some intense physical activity. Kickboxing is a great stress reducer and a healthy way to relieve some of the day’s frustrations, which will also help you get a better night’s sleep and improve mental clarity.

5. Feel sexy and confident
There’s nothing sexier than being able to kick some butt, and look great doing it. The intensity of kickboxing means you’ll see improvements and results quickly. When you’re putting yourself through a program that challenges you and you can complete it, that alone boosts your confidence dramatically because you’ve accomplished something formidable that you can be proud of.
